Texas brought some fantastic racing with the final round of the Florida Winter Tour and the first round of the coveted SKUSA Pro Tour. After building momentum in Orlando with his first US podium, Cole Medeiros was ready to take on the beautiful SpeedSportz Racing Park in Houston. It was two weeks of hard racing, but the results were beyond worth it.
In a dramatic conclusion to one of North America’s most competitive winter karting series, Cole Medeiros secured the Florida Winter Tour ROK Junior Championship title in the final round held at SpeedSportz Racing Park in Houston. With tension high and the championship on the line, Come delivered a clutch performance in the Final, finishing 4th and locking in the points needed to bring home the crown.
Driving for Racing Edge Motorsports in ROK Junior, Cole entered the Houston weekend trailing by a narrow margin in the championship standings. Consistent pace and smart racecraft throughout the weekend allowed them to capitalize on every opportunity, ultimately making the difference in the high-stakes Final.
The Florida Winter Tour, known for drawing top talent from across the continent, provided a challenging and dynamic season. Cole’s campaign was marked by podiums, perseverance, and tactical brilliance across all rounds, culminating in this well-earned championship.
Fast forward to the following Thursday; overcast, rainy, and not the nicest way to start testing, but the show must go on. While the team at Racing Edge Motorsports expected this to be a standard practice day, it proved to be not so standard. Cole would be involved in an accident on lap 1 of Thursday practice, resulting in a hairline fracture in his wrist, raising a large question mark regarding his ability to drive in the opening round of the SKUSA Pro Tour.
After being checked out, cleared and having a cast on his arm, Cole was ready to take on the weekend. With an up-and-down weekend, the track seeming to change virtually every session, Cole would drive to the front in the KA100 final and pull a comfortable 4-second lead, allowing him to comfortably finish on the top step of the podium for his first win in the U.S.
